Chess Moves and White Humping Bears!

OK so I’ve been in a sorta funk lately. It’s not home it’s work and it’s weird work. We are moving to a new school building and we don’t know our room numbers. My friends are interviewing other places and I just don’t like it when the people around me are not happy. I know I need to “grow a pair” and realize that it’s not my job to make everyone happy. But that is something I have struggled with all my life.

So anyway I went to my internet bestie that doesn’t know I exist for some help. As it seems to be she had some words of wisdom. These actually came from articles she linked so I’m going to link them as well.

First there is this one on the 5 ways your Brain is Tricky you into Being Miserable.

#4 Says that killing Negative thoughts only makes them stronger. You guys this is what I needed to hear! There has been lots of negativity going on at my school and down my hallway. I have let it get inside my brain so much that it’s all I can think about!

Here is a little insert from the article

All right, you think, if negative thoughts are so powerful and make us so miserable, we’ll just force ourselves to stop focusing on them. After all, we’re conscious animals; we have control over our own brains. Now that we’re aware of the problem, we just won’t do it — we’ll look in the mirror and force ourselves to not think about the pimple.
Sure. First, let’s try a really simple brain exercise:
Imagine a white bear humping another bear. Try to get a really clear picture of them in your mind. All right, now stop thinking of the humping bears. Use all of your powers of concentration to eliminate all traces of them from your mind. You shouldn’t be seeing the white bears at all now, or their frantic thrusting, even when we repeat the words “humping white bears.”

By the way you are welcome for the visual! 🙂

Ok on to the next thing I needed to hear right now; this comes from 9 Questions Unhappy People Never Ask

The First question in the article is “Should I turn Around?”. Ummm why? Why would you turn around you have to keep looking forward, even it’s until the year 2017! That’s why I always do…but is that right?

Their answer is this:

Sometimes when it feels like you’re running into one dead end after another, it’s actually a sign that you’re not on the right path. Maybe you were meant to hang a left back when you took a right, and that’s perfectly okay. U-turns are allowed in life. Remember, no one wins a game of chess by only moving forward; sometimes you have to move backward to put yourself in a position to win

Oh and that chess move there…that’s some pretty powerful thinking there!

So I just have to remind myself to just take care of myself and my family and all the other stuff will work itself out. I can’t control other people.

* P.S. Sorry about the title but every once in awhile a like something more then a G rating.

P.P.S. I curious if my read count goes way up because of the word “humping” in the title.

P.P.S. Again I didn’t write these articles but I linked them to their original source so feel free to read the whole things there. 🙂

P.P.P.S I think this the first time I have had so many post scripts! 🙂
