The Great Strudel Bake 2013

So back to that whole reason we were in a hotel Friday night. We traveled to my home town to join the local Catholic Church in a fundraising event where they make and sell strudels. The back of the room was lines of tables where everyone just made themselves at home and got to work. There was an apple station and a dough station in the back. They had this down to a science and if you didn’t do it their way they noticed!!

Everyone kept coming over and making sure we were doing our strudels correctly. It was an amazing time and great working with the community and the girls, everyone decided that this will be a yearly tradition.

Danielle found an amazing way to be helpful and everyone loved it!! She would go around and pick up all the empty apple buckets and take them to the back to be filled up again. No one had to ask her to do it. No one had to tell her how to do it. She just saw a need and jumped right in.

Veronica, my natural born leader, found ways to help too. She was asked by a few of the women to show them how to make the strudels. So she stepped right in. She taught them the proper way to put the proper strudel together. They were so grateful for her help and thanked me.

Some of the ingredients for each strudel were placed in the plastic bag and they said as you were working to keep the bags so you could count how many strudels you made.

25 strudels in 3 1/2 hours! Not bad for our first year!
